Ashley Draeger
Jay Maisel
Jay Maisel began a career in photography in 1954, at the age of 23, after studying graphic design and painting at Cooper Union and Yale. He is perhaps best known for photographing Marilyn Monroe and Miles Davis’ album cover for “Kind of  Blue.” For over 40 years he shot jazz albums, magazine covers, and advertisements. He was also famous for his commercial photography, having shot five Sports Illustrated swimsuit covers and the first two covers of New York Magazine. Though he stopped shooting commercial photography in the late 90’s, he still continues to work on his personal photography. His photography caught my attention because it’s simple, but it has vibrant colors and a lot of texture.
